Dr. Chris Wade

Christopher L. Wade, MD, MPH is Andrew’s dad. He recently retired from a 36-year career with Southern California Permanente Medical Group. While with the Kaiser organization, Chris has made major contributions in the fields of preventive medicine, breastfeeding/baby friendly policies, diabetes management, obesity management and the development of Kaiser’s widely recognized, ground-breaking electronic health record. He is a co-founder of the International Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine and has lectured internationally through UCLA’s Lactation Consultant Education and Training Programs. He has published papers in scientific journals regarding breastfeeding, and preventive medicine including Medical Hypothesis and Medical Therapeutics. Chris Wade continues to work on Kaiser’s Electronic Health Record (KPHealthConnect) as an Emeritus Physician with the SCPMG Medical Group Executive Leadership. He obtained a BS in Microbiology from California State University, Los Angeles, an MD from the Autonomous University of Guadalajara (Mexico), and completed his Residencies in Internal Medicine, Preventive Medicine and Medical Informatics and obtained a Master’s in Public Health from Loma Linda University School of Public Health. Chris enjoys singing and playing guitar for his church. He also travels extensively and is a dedicated grandpa to his two grandchildren.
